The Venetian Macao presents Carnival 2012

Masked revelers, extravagant parades, decadent Creole cuisine, incredible Jazz music and strands upon strands of glimmering multi-colour beads. . . If you’ve always dreamt of going to New Orleans, start celebrating. This year The Venetian Macao is bringing the legendary Mardi Gras to you! From May 25 – 27, The Venetian will present , a three-day non-stop music, food and drinks festival featuring hand picked musicians and entertainers, who have been flown in from every corner of the globe to keep the party going all weekend long. Every evening a full scale parade of bands, street performers, singers and more will kick off the festivities, featuring theme-decorated booths, international food stands, beer gardens, jugglers, magicians, and more. On the main stage, a live “Battle of the Bands” will take the spotlight, featuring 12 of the world’s best Jazz & Blues bands who have traveled to Macao from around the world to compete for the grand prize.

Weekend highlights include:
Friday, 7pm – Jazz legend George Benson kicks off the weekend with a public performance, followed by the International Jazz Festival with 6 feature bands, and then “An Evening with George Benson” private concert in the Venetian Theatre
Saturday, 8pm – The red carpet rolls out for Macao’s top social event of the season, “The Venetian Carnival Mardi Gras Costume Charity Ball”, featuring performances by New Orleans famous The Michael Foster Brass Band, four-time Grammy nominees The Pine Leaf Boys and The Nevilles, plus don’t miss the International Jazz Festival starting at 4pm
Sunday, 10pm – The epic “Battle of the Bands” comes to a close in a grand finale standoff
