White Nights

It’s a white delight, it’s worth more per gram than gold, it’s only found in the deepest, darkest corners and with just one sniff you’ll be hooked… it’s white truffle season (what did you think we were talking about?) and this town is stocked with only the freshest stash.  Here’s where you can get your fix…

The Mistral
(InterContinental Grand Stanford, 70 Mody Road, TST East, Kowloon, 2731 2870)
Chef Claudio of The Mistral has begun his annual homage to the white truffle by creating dishes such as Porcini Mushroom Risotto with Mascarpone Cheese and Truffle Essence and Beef Sirloin Tagliata with Rocket Salad, Caper-Mashed Potatoes and Truffle Sauce. The word on the street is that his kitchen was one of the first in town to receive the truffles this season, with jetfresh shipments from the forests of Piemonte, Italy, the legendary home of the finest white truffles, still coming in regularly. Splendid dishes, the freshest truffles and a man who’s not afraid to go after what he wants…what more could we ask for?

Pierre
(Mandarin Oriental, 5 Connaught Road, Central, 2825 4001)
The legendary Monsieur Gagnaire will be flying into town to launch his signature White Truffle Menu in January…but if you can’t wait for white, it’s time to go to the dark side. A one-of-a-kind Black Truffle Menu will be available at Pierre from 17-31 December, just in time for the holidays. Each signature dish on La Truffe Noire tasting menu is perfectly paired with an accompanying wine, resulting in the best possible combination of flavours, with a luxurious price to match.  For a sumptuous Christmas or New Year’s treat, nothing could be more decadent.
