Viva Comedia

What’s passionate, smokin’ hot and will have you throwing your head back in giggles all night long? Antonio Banderas in Zorro? No, it’s this week in Hong Kong! With Spanish National Day and the Hong Kong Comedy Festival around the corner, the vibrant spirit of Spain along with the best of comedy will be celebrated all around town. Whether you’re in the mood for dancing or laughing (or both!), the endorphins are coming out to play. . .

Keep your energy up all night long with a special five course Spanish menu including soup or ensalada, Iberian ham, a selection of hot and cold tapas, paella, main course, dessert and a glass of Spanish Rosado (HK$480 pp).

The Punchline Comedy Club (The Viceroy, 2/F, Sun Hung Kai Ctr., 30 Harbour Road, Wanchai, 2317 6666)
Prepare your paella and sangria filled belly for a night of chuckling at The Punchline Comedy Club. Renowned comedians Mark Watson, Phil Butler and brilliant sharp tongued ventriloquist Paul Zerdin will step up to the mic to amuse and entertain you. Beware, Zerdin’s puppets are not as innocent as they look and Watson and Butler are not shy of controversial moments! (October 9-11)

Take-Out Comedy (34 Elgin Street, SoHo, 6220 4436)
As the grand finale to a week of international comedy competitions, Kush and Take-Out Comedy will present America’s latest award winning stand-up star, Tom Cotter to light up the stage in Hong Kong. Recently bringing down the house on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno as well as picking up countless top comedian awards, Tom’s high-energy rapid-fire style of comedy will have you rolling in the aisles. (October 16-18)

Over the next week, your nights will be heated up with tantalizing nibbles and your appetite will be delightfully entertained. It may not be Antonio Banderas, but it’ll still put a smile on your face!
