Valentine’s Day Starting Line-Up

The World Series of date nights is quickly approaching and you can’t afford to strike out. Whether you’re warming the bench, playing the field, or hoping to take it all the way this Valentine’s Day, here are some restaurant ideas to help you get in the game…

1st Base
You’re up at bat and want to get to first in style?
Cosy up at beachside charmer Cococabana (2812 2226, 6-courses/$595pp). It may be a little chilly outside but what better excuse to snuggle up and get close, body heat works wonders! In town, go for casual romantic bistro fare at La Terrasse (2147 2225, 4-courses/$425pp) or The Press Room (2525 3444, 8-courses/$990pp or à la carte). Or, make a date at Scirocco (2973 6605, 3-courses/$389pp) for tasty tapas in a seductive setting. If you’d prefer to skip straight to dessert, stroll down to Chocolux (2858 8760) for dark corners, candle-lit tables and sexy sweets.

2nd Base
You’ll steal more than second at…
M at the Fringe (2877 4000, from $288 up) with their unique Valentine’s Day menus especially meant for sharing…très intimate! Dine at Tribute (2135 6645, 5-courses/$594pp) for their delectable cuisine, excellent wine list and contemporary-chic setting. For classic romance and traditional colonial décor, head south to the Verandah (2812 2722, 5-courses/$1188pp). Or, experience a romantic adventure by taking the tram up to newly opened gem Pearl on the Peak (2849 5123, 6-courses/$1288pp).

3rd Base
Ready to make a run to third?
Ingredients (2544 5133, 6-courses/$688pp) is the place to go to add a dash of modern-chic to your recipe for romance. While Spoon (2313 2323, 5-courses/$1388pp) will provide an air of seduction with a special dining experience created by chef Tjaco van Eijken. Amber is the “new red” this Valentine’s Day if you choose to indulge in their sumptuous tasting menu (2132 0188, 4-courses/$990pp, 6:00-8:00pm, 9-courses/$1490pp, 8:30pm on). Or, for a sultry, indulgent “room with a view,” request a window seat at Pierre (2522 0111, 5-courses/$1088, 6:00-8:00pm, 8-courses/$1488pp 8:30pm on) or Azure (3518 9688, 6-courses/$644pp).
