The audience is breathless with anticipation, the stage is set, the curtain opens and the spotlight’s on…Restaurant Week! The foodie phenomenon, which started in New York in 1992 and has since captured hearts and tantalized palates around the globe, will be celebrating its 5th edition in Hong Kong this summer. More star restaurants and celebrity chefs have come out to perform than ever before and Dim Sum & Then Some readers will have exclusive access to the Restaurant Week online booking system starting Tuesday morning at 10:00 am, 1.5 FULL DAYS before anyone else in the city!
This summer, DiningCity Hong Kong Restaurant Week will run from August 5 – 11 2013 offering access to online reservations and specially priced menus at more than 85 of the city’s most sought after dining spots. To celebrate Restaurant Week’s fabulous 5th edition, each restaurant has created a tailor made 3-course menu featuring exclusive signature dishes for both Lunch and Dinner. You can expect a culinary showdown as each hot chef competes for the week’s top rated slot. Restaurant Week diners are encouraged to submit feedback on their experiences and awards are given out to dining spots with the most rave reviews (this winter’s #1 was Messina).
In the mood for spicy Sichuan, classic French, hearty Italian, saucy South American? No matter what your tastes and budget, you’ll find a Restaurant Week choice to please your palate. For one-week only, prices start from just HK$98 for Lunch and HK$258 for Dinner, including a mouthwatering appetizer, entrée and dessert! Plus for the first time ever, you can give back while you chow down. Use your Amex to pay for your Restaurant Week meals and American Express will donate HK$10 (per transaction) to support Oxfam Hong Kong’s poverty alleviation work.
Noteworthy newcomers on the hot list include sizzling Peruvian Mayta by Jamie Pesaque, much adored Australian Laris by David Laris, sublime Italian Lupa and classic steakhouse Carnevino, both by Mario Batali, sultry Latin American hotspot Socialito, and finger lickin’ good Cajun Restoration. While returning favourites include standout Spanish Boqueria, carnivore’s dream Blue Butcher, alfresco Italian Divino Patio, whimsical Sal Curioso, French favourite Chez Patrick, and Hung Hom’s trio of gastronomic sensations, Italian Messina, Japanese Kazuo Okada and Michelin star Shanghainese Yu Lei.
All Restaurant Week reservations can be booked online and will open to the public on Wednesday, July 31st at 4pm. However, Dim Sum & Then Some has partnered with DiningCity for the third time running to offer Exclusive Access and Priority Bookings to our readers.
