Raising the Bar

Rarely do sublime style and decadent drinking come together in melodious harmony.  One is usually cast aside to make way for the other.  But every once in a while a bright spark with a grand vision for a nightlife future comes along, and who are we to stand in their way?  We propose a toast to a few favourite hotspots that are not only raising the bar on HK nightlife but breaking ground with captivating concepts, innovative interiors and killer cocktails…

(6/F, LKF Tower, 33 Wyndham Street, Central, 2810 6166) Evoking a bygone era of glamour with influences ranging from early 1900’s Parisian salons to pre-War American supper clubs to Prohibition-era speakeasies, Lily’s old-school banquettes and vintage bar area are easy on the eyes while a taste of the classically sultry cocktails is sure to inspire a whole new era of silver screen-worthy rendezvous.

Cocktail to Order: Old Cuban, made with Ron Zacapa 23-year Rum, Lime, Sugar, Mint and Prosecco
Table to Book: The circular leather booth at the end of the bar. The only table to provide a full view of the bar at Lily as well as an overview of the double height dining room in Bloom, taking the phrase ‘see and be scene’ to a whole new level!

Le BoudoirLe Boudoir
(Basement, 65 Wyndham Street, Central, 2530 3870) Hiding below a nondescript doorway on Wyndham Street, this new clandestine cocktail spot is styled as an opulent 18th century boudoir filled with rich velvets and silks, and offers luscious libations to match.

Cocktail to Order: Boudoir Collins, made with Beefeater Gin, Elderflower, Fresh Mint and Lemon
Table to Book: Whichever one you can get, there are only two!

(108 Hollywood Road, Central, 2261 1111) Shedding light (literally) on a whole new nightlife concept, M1NT has been transformed into an open-plan multi-level bar, with a cosy cocktail lounge spilling onto Hollywood Road at Happy Hour and a chic new design in the upstairs club, where a soon to be installed removable catwalk is sure to be well trodden by many a stylish stiletto come 2011.

Cocktail to Order: Signora Della Notte, made with Glenlivet 12-year old Single Malt, Dows Ruby Port, Sangria Rouge, Egg White and Demerrera Sugar Syrup
Table to Book: ”Big Daddy,” the large round marble table has the best view of the venue, but is a bit further away from the throngs of revelers.
