New Kids On The Block

Gone is the Wyndham Street we once knew, with its stodgy style and tired tunes. Here is its younger, sexier and completely vamped-up brother, with new moves that have changed the face of HK’s entertainment scene. It’s time to introduce the New Kids On the Block…

The Right Stuff
With its glitzy art deco décor, impressive ice-filled crustacea bar and a menu to put a smile on any seafood-lover’s face, La Mer Brasserie (1/F LKF Tower, 33 Wyndham Street, 2523 0200) has created a recipe for success. Feast upon an array of fresh oysters, sashimi, caviar or French-inspired comfort food such as the Cod a la Marseille or Steak Tartare and Pommes Frites and enjoy the hustle and bustle of this animated dining room.

Hangin’ Tough
It ain’t so tough to hang here.  Tivo (43-45 Wyndham Street, 2116 8055) has become the coolest spot to cocktail on the stretch.  The crowd from the bar and dining room extends onto the street late into the night and becomes a place to see and be seen. Sexy furnishings, divine martinis and an adoring audience…who needs more?

Call It What You Want
The quirkily named but irresistibly charming Frog Face Fish (43-45 Wyndham Street, 2869 8535) serves up some of the most delectable seafood in town. With its cosy and modern setting, this younger sister to foodie-haven Zest (57 Wyndham Street, 2526 7993) is perfectly suited for meeting a friend for an early drink, although the menu is so tempting, you may be there longer than anticipated!

Step By Step
Make your way down the staircase into the dark and brooding surroundings of Yun Fu (Basement, 43-45 Wyndham Street, 2116 8855). Exposed bricks, dark Chinese wood and deep red glass gives the feel of an illicit Shanghainese opium den…how racy! Don’t leave without trying the mouth-watering Yun Fu-style lamb ribs and the Mandarin Fish with salty egg yolks.

Didn’t I Blow Your Mind
Oh yes you did! With its sweeping open-planned room and slinky décor, a table at Wagyu (G/F, The Centrium, 60 Wyndham Street, 2525 8805) is otherwise known as prime front row seats of the catwalk that is Wyndham Street. Enjoy sumptuous salads and fabulous steaks while checking out the fashionistas sashaying into Privé, the glam, new nightspot next door.

Whether you’re after a crazy night on the town or a gourmet dining experience, the New Kids On The Block promise to entertain. Let’s just hope they last longer than their musical counterparts!
