Let it Flow!

Oh the headache from last night is frightful,
But the champagne is so delightful,
And since we’ve got places to go,

If the festive season has had you on an almost permanent champagne diet these past few weeks, you’re not alone. But since you’ve already started this bubble-licious holiday time on a high note, there’s no reason to stop now. In fact, some of the best hotels and restaurants in town have come up with even more reasons for you to raise a glass and celebrate this Christmas!

If you’re not going to make it back to Rome to see la famiglia this year, Chef Claudio will be cooking up a feast in the kitchen of The Mistral, featuring all the Italian winter specialties you can imagine. The Christmas Day brunch buffet will include treats like Foie gras terrine with hazelnuts, Pan-fried breaded Lamb fillet with taleggio, Sage and mascarpone cheese mash, and Creamy bitter-sweet chocolate mousse with strawberry sauce along with free-flowing Prosecco (HK$458, 2731 2870).


If you’ve been singing along to Christmas carols at the top of your lungs while dressing your tree and feel your neighbors might need a break, why not go to The Peninsula where you can enjoy the professionals in action. From December 20 – 26, The Lobby will be hosting “Festive Afternoon Tea” featuring Hong Kong’s finest choirs performing Christmas carols. (HK$348, 2315 3010)

If the idea of rustling up Christmas dinner at chez toi leaves you immediately flustered, head over to Chez Moi, on Arbuthnot Road. The festive Christmas dinner menu includes signature dishes such as Beetroot gazpacho and creamed horseradish, Roast Wagyu beef tenderloin, European cheeses and Spiced dark chocolate and cherry terrine with mascarpone and Contreau cream. If you’re a traditionalist at heart, Christmas isn’t Christmas without the merry dances of The Nutcracker (December 19-27 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre). For a post show treat, take the kids for dinner at the InterContinental’s Lobby Lounge where they can indulge in Pizzas and Hot Chocolate Floats and even receive a Nutcracker ornament as a souvenir of the special day. If you’ve been saving yourself for the Christmas Day food fest, we have just the place. Lawry’s Christmas dinner is so hearty and scrumptious, it will have been worth the wait. The four-course festive menu includes ‘California Cut’ roasted prime rib or Pan-fried sea bass, both with Atlantic lobster tail, mashed potato and vegetables followed by Christmas pudding or Crème brûlée with berries. If it’s been a while since you sat on Santa’s lap, head to the Clipper Lounge, where he’ll be making an appearance with lots of x-mas presents and surprises. On Christmas Day, an array of culinary delights will be available for both lunch and dinner, and a balloon artist will even be there to entertain your little elves.
