It’s Friday I’m In Love – Perfect Weekend Itineraries

Your weeks are a blur of non-stop busy. From the second your alarm goes off on Monday morning to the moment you kick your Manolos off on Friday evening, it’s all go, go, go. Sometimes the only way you manage to make your way through your jam-packed week is the glimmer of the weekend on the horizon – two long, languid days of loveliness to fill with all your favourite things.  But when your schedule’s so manic Monday to Friday, it leaves little time for weekend planning. When your two days of freedom are so precious, why would you want to waste a second fretting over restaurant choices or Googling “what to do in Hong Kong when it rains”?!  Well now you don’t have to, we have your weekend plans covered. Here are the DSTS ultimate weekend itineraries, just call us your downtime fairy godmothers…

The Hedonist’s Weekend
After a week of suits and spreadsheets when Saturday rolls around you definitely deserve to let your hair down, drink champagne and dance on the table…
Get the party started by donning a sailor’s cap and your best bikini for a day sipping sea breezes aboard the Jungle Jane, a 69-foot super motorboat – which can also be converted into a fully stocked Moët & Chandon Ice Imperial party yacht – featuring a giant 22-foot wide platform for sunbathing or dance parties (or both!), a Marine Fusion 8-speaker sound system, floating lounges, bean bags, sun mats, and inflatable slide and space for 48 of your crew. Once you’re back on dry land it’s time for a quick change into something slinky and cocktail hour appropriate to hit up the breathtaking bar at Il Milione for a few light refreshing Bicycletta cocktails made by bar maestro Giancarlo Mancino. A purely liquid diet is only going to lead to an early bedtime so move on to tapas hot spot, Catalunya, for a little stylish grazing before the martinis go to your head. Suitably refueled, head back to Central for a round of Crack Babies and lots of strutting around the dance floor at Boujis As Sunday dawns you’re likely to be tottering back up Pottinger Street. Go home, get a couple of hours sleep, don your biggest, darkest shades and take your hangover for a brunch with a view (not to mention free flow Champagne) at ToTT’s Restaurant and Roof TerraceNow you’ve got your post-brunch buzz on, zip over to the W Hotel to while away your Sunday afternoon beside the rooftop infinity pool, cocktail in hand – Sundays are SO the new Saturday nights… If, come 5pm you’re still standing it’s time to zoom back across the harbor for chilled out tunes and sunset sips at Upper House’s candle-lit secret garden The Lawn. Perfect end to the perfect party weekend.

The Family Fun Weekend
If weekend means quality time with your mini me’s, you’ll want to make sure that it’s chocka-block with family fun…
After a bright and early start, head to Stanley for boiled eggs for the babies and eggs benedict and Bloody Mary’s for the grown-ups courtesy of one of our favourite laid back breakfast spots Classified or Chez Patrick Deli. After a wander around the market, it’s down to the beach to grab boards and paddles and venture out for a morning of riding the waves en famille with stand up paddle boarding at Aqua Bound. Dry off and round everyone up before heading off on the next leg of the weekend’s adventures. Stop en route to the ferry pier for lunch on the run – sizzling hot dogs and icy cold milkshakes at Yonge PiggiesBefore hopping on the ferry to Lantau, double check that you’ve packed sleeping bags and toothbrushes because you’re sailing off for a night sleeping under canvas Red Indian style with Palm Beach‘s camping in teepees. After an evening of ghost stories and s’mores round the campfire, there’s nothing better than unzipping your teepee and somersaulting straight into the sea for a refreshing morning dip. Work up an appetite kayaking and splashing around on the shore before wandering a few metres along the beach for a South African feast of a lunch at The Stoep. Once you’ve made it back into Central with your fun-weary crew there’ll be just enough time for Sunday evening pizza and much recounting of the weekend’s escapades at New York stalwart Motorino.

The Staycation Weekend
As much as you love our neon-lit, skyscrapered, 24/7 metropolis, sometimes it all gets too much and you need a bit of a break…
When you’re after a weekend of wall-to-wall relaxation without the need for a passport a stay-cation is the perfect solution.  If you’re a Hong Kong resident and you like a bit of hardcore poolside chillaxing it doesn’t get much better than the Grand Hyatt‘s “828 Package.” Check in at 8am on Saturday morning, check out at 8pm on Sunday evening and pay just HK$828 per person including buffet breakfast for two at Grand Café, complimentary parking, and access to the stunning 50-metre outdoor pool. Be sure to pack a good book and your hottest swimwear – sunbaking features heavily on the agenda. If you’re feeling up to bypassing room service and a movie on Saturday night (and we won’t judge you if you’re not), keep the vacation vibe alive by having date night at a restaurant with a Mediterranean flavour. Our top picks in the neighbourhood are harbour front Italian GIANDO, sizzling Spanish 22 Ships , and casual charmer DiVino Patio.

The Stormy Sunday
When the skies are steely grey and the rain’s incessant, grab your umbrella and wellies, dodge the storm and indulge yourself…
Kick off the day with a long, lazy brunch at Sal Curioso. Graze from the buffet table heaving with ceviche, salads, charcuterie and fresh seafood before moving onto a selection of hot made to order sharing plates. This South American brunch is guaranteed to bring sunshine to your Sunday no matter how gloomy the dayTummy filled, it’s time to get pampered from top to toe. Start at The Strand (2850 7686) with an “Algoblanc Skin Brightening Facial,” featuring cleansing, microdermabrasion, and an amethyst stone massage to leave you looking and feeling like a gem. Before skipping through the puddles to get your feet rubbed at Caribbean chic foot massage haven Ten Feet TallNow it’s time to get supplies in for an evening snuggled on the sofa in front of a good film. Hop on over to La Rotisserie where a ready made roast chicken dinner has your name on it…

I don’t care if Monday’s blue, Tuesday’s gray and Wednesday too, Thursday I don’t care about you, it’s Friday, I’m in love…Happy Weekend!
