EXCLUSIVE: Restaurant Week UnwrappedCelebrating 20 years of entertaining food lovers around the globe, Restaurant Week originated in 1992, when Tim Zagat of the famed restaurant guides and iconic restaurateur Joe Baum enlisted NYC restaurants to offer lunches for US$19.92 for one week. Two decades later, a worldwide phenomenon has ensued with Restaurant Weeks now happening in cities from Puerta Vallarta to Paris.

This summer, DiningCity Hong Kong Restaurant Week will run from July 9-15 2012 and will offer online reservations at over 70 of the city’s most coveted dining spots. To celebrate the biggest foodie event of the summer, each restaurant has prepared a special 3-course menu featuring its signature seasonal dishes for both Lunch and Dinner. And you can expect them to roll out the red carpet with VIP treatment and service as Restaurant Week diners are encouraged to submit reviews of their experience, and all participating restaurants are competing to be voted in as the city’s top spot. Save your big spending for your summer holiday, as prices start from just HK$98 for Lunch and HK$258 for Dinner, including a mouthwatering appetizer, entrée and dessert!

Restaurants on the Hot List this year include: Blue Butcher which just opened to rave reviews on Hollywood Road, sleek Japanese fusion hotspot Se Sa Me, finger licking good BBQ joint Blue Smoke, Italian stallion Doppio Zero, chic comfort food fav Lily & Bloom, high end tapas extraordinaire FOFO by El Willy, foodie hideaway JAR (Just-a-Restaurant), Wanchai standouts The Pawn, Wooloomooloo, Chez Patrick and Madame Sixty Ate, TST’s glamorous WHISK, FINDS and AVA Restaurant / Bar, much adored Sai Kung seaside spot One Thirtyone, and many more.

All Restaurant Week reservations can be booked online and will open to the public on June 20th, and to select groups on June 18th. But this summer, in a first ever collaboration, Dim Sum & Then Some has partnered with DiningCity to offer Exclusive Access and Priority Bookings to our readers.
