Zuma-ing AheadWhy did the chicken cross the road?  To get to Yardbird!  Fans of Zuma and in-the-know SoHo neighbors are already lining up at this hidden gem on Bridges Street for a taste of former Zuma Executive Chef Matthew Abergel’s take on Yakitori. Specializing in skewered chicken grilled over traditional Bincho charcoal, Yardbird’s Yakitori dishes are made with high quality chickens from local farms that are brought in fresh daily, ensuring maximum flavor, while reducing the restaurant’s carbon footprint and supporting local farmers.  Appetizers like Sweet Corn Tempura, KFC – Korean Fried Cauliflower with yuzu and chili, and Manganji Pepper with honey and sea salt incorporate seasonal ingredients that are freshly prepared and packed with flavor. While delectable entrees like Short Rib with Japanese curry, a side of Rice Cakes made with furikake and sesame, and much better than mama’s Chicken Broth with seasonal vegetables add unique twists to the menu that will keep you coming back for more. With its cool casual ambience, knowledgeable servers, extensive sake and cocktail menu and the succulent Yakitori delights, Abergel has sprinkled his magic, and a little Japanese sea salt, to create an instant favourite, worth crossing roads, and even climbing stairs, to experience.
