NYC’s Beloved Boqueria Opens in HKThink Spain.  More to the point, think Barcelona.  Warm Mediterranean breezes? Breathtaking art and architecture?  Delicious eye candy? Yes sure, but who are we kidding – let’s talk food. Jamon Iberico. Patatas Bravas. Paella de Mariscos. Tortilla Espanola. Churros con Chocolate.  Need we go on?  If only there were direct flights between Hong Kong and Barcelona!

Not to worry.  New York’s most beloved tapas bar, Boqueria, has just made its way to our friendly shores and is ready to transport you and your taste buds to the world’s culinary capital. From the heart of Hong Kong, you will inexplicably find yourself in the belly of Barcelona. No detail is spared, right down to the chalkboard menus, the moorish tiles, and the stacks of gorgeous produce reminiscent of the bustling central market in La Rambla that the restaurant is named for. They’ve got all the regulars (see above) that you crave, sizzled to perfection, plus signature specialties like the melt-in-your-mouth Bombas de la Barceloneta, croquettes made with potato and three kinds of Wagyu beef.  But more importantly, Chef David Izquierdo (of former Uno Mas fame) understands that perhaps there are times when a small plate might just be a little too pequeño.  Because sharing is caring, except when you’re really hungry. When appetites roar and stomachs growl the way they do upon entering this gourmet heaven, they’ve got signature larger format dishes that groups can easily gather around and sink their collective teeth into. Bone-in Smoked Rib Eye Steak, Salt Baked Whole Sea Bass. Suckling Pig.  Flavors that will slap you in the face and leave you thirsty for more.

Speaking of thirsty, let’s talk drinks, shall we? First up, the Rioja Sour, which is a blend of Maker’s Mark and red wine. So wrong, but oh so right. Or maybe a Padron Margarita. But this being an authentic-as-it-gets tapas bar, you are no doubt expecting Sangria. You will not be disappointed. Red wine, White wine, Rose? But of course. Though isn’t that a little amateur hour for you? Try Tomatina, Bourbon and Peach, or Beer. Yes you read that right: Beer Sangria. There is really nothing more to say but “Vamanos!”.
