Super MarioGame on. Italian-American celebrity chef and uber-restaurateur Mario Batali has taken his first leap into Hong Kong with the opening of an outpost of his much-adored New York favourite LUPA.  Located right in the heart of Queen’s Road Central, LUPA’s sprawling space strikes just the right balance between modern urban glamour and traditional bistro chic, while the spacious outdoor terrace featuring dark bars offset by bowls of fresh lemons, alfresco café tables and plush banquettes, mean you’ll be tempted to stop and savour at least one bellini under the stars. But the real showstopper at LUPA, as with all of Batali’s restaurants, is the sumptuous, freshly prepared and mouth-wateringly delicious Italian food.  Menu highlights include his famous ricotta gnocchi and spaghetti carbonara as well as pizzas from simple margherita to melt in your mouth mushroom, served bubbling hot out of the oven.  Lunch features decadent appetizer and dessert buffets including perfectly prepared Italian vegetables, salads, meats and breads and a mouthwatering selection of freshly baked cookies and cakes. Leading the kitchen will be Chef Zach Allen, who has been working with Batali for over 10-years, while select staff from both his New York and Vegas hotspots have been brought in to make sure the service is tip top. Ready for more? We’ve gotten the inside scoop that two more Batali restos are set to open in HK before 2013.

Hong Kong dining, you’ve reached the next level.
