TED’s Lookout Opens in WanchaiBrickhouse, Taco Chaca, Chicha, Socialito… If you hadn’t already noticed, anything Latin American is so hot right now. Frankly, we’re not surprised – who doesn’t love the winning combo of tacos and tequila? But do we really need another South American flavoured hotspot in Hong Kong after the recent glut of new openings in the city?

Does J-Lo love a good engagement ring? Do the Peruvians prefer their guinea pigs in buns instead of cages?

Of course we do.

Introducing the city’s newest Latino opening, TED’s Lookout.

Part slick New York-style cocktail den, part favela chic dive bar, TED’s is gritty glam with a generous side of cool. Nestled in a deserted corner at the end of Moon Street, exposed light-bulbs spelling out the bar’s name beckon you in with whispered promises that you’ll be falling back out again.

Sip your liquor alfresco, propped on a high stool by the hurricane lantern illuminated bar hatch, or head inside and settle in to a leather banqueted booth while you watch the barmen shake up what’s sure to be the first of many liquor-laden concoctions. A couple of cocktails down, soak up a little of the alcohol and keep the wolf from the door with a round of bite-sized Chorizo tacos and a nibble of prawn ceviche.

Very clearly designed with misbehavior in mind, there’s even a cheeky ‘hiding from wife’ telephone and a list of excuses as to your whereabouts affixed to the wall. And when naughtiness is expected then you’d better behave accordingly, after all it would be a waste for the night to end before the tequila bottle’s empty…
