We are greeking out for Souvla, the delicious and gorgeous new Greek Restaurant that just hit Lan Kwai Fong. Upon entering you feel you’ve just stepped into the rich, gleaming, mahogany cabin of one of Ari O’s yachts. The red honeycombs that adorn the restaurant’s walls coupled with the deep navy benches feel preppy, fresh and inviting all at once.
Knowledgeable waiters can impressively guide you through the classic with a twist Greek treats. This isn’t a late night gyro in LKF; this is proper Greek food. Our personal favorites are the Cypriot Salata, a wholesome mixture of pulses, nuts, dried fruit and yogurt. It helped us shake off any guilt at cleaning our plates of both the Saganaki (gooey, yummy, fried cheese with lemon and marmalade) and the Grilled Haloumi (sigh, more fried cheese, this time with refreshing fennel) right before.
The Moussaka was love and comfort in one dish and makes us ache for the Greek Grandmother we never had. The Baklava Cigars and the Golden Greek Time fried ice cream sealed the deal. We washed it all down with their custom Mother Clucker Mextaxa cocktails.
The only tragedy? We stuffed ourselves too full to try it all. Guess we’ll have to go back this week and give it another go. A siren’s song couldn’t keep us away!
