Happy MealHere’s the thing about happy hour in Hong Kong – it often turns into happy six hours. And without a proper lining of the belly, you are more than likely looking at a pretty unhappy next morning.  Enter, MO Bar, to your very ready rescue.

Burgers and Bourdeaux. Bordeaux and Burgers.

But not just any burgers and not just any bourdeaux. We’re talking Wagyu. And Grand Cru.

We too are scratching our heads in amazement that this utterly delicious combination is only just making its debut now. But like most life-changing strokes of innovative genius (think: the iPhone, online shopping, Spanx), we’ll just gratefully accept that it is finally here.

But we digress.  Back to the beef!  MO Bar has catapulted the classic red meat/red wine combo up a few dozen notches, now offering its signature Wagyu Beef Burger alongside a glass of either Bordeaux or Burgundy Grand Cru wine, for just HK$388. It’s the absolute pinnacle of pairings.

You can have a traditional burger or if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous you can go teriyaki style, which comes with pickled kyuri cucumber and onion tempura.  And lucky you get to pick from either Chateaux Talbot, Grand Cru Classe, Saint Julien 2008 or Pascal Lachaux, Chambolle Musigny 1er cru Les Cras 2007.  For those of you who are a little rusty on your sommelier skills, it’s worth noting that a glass of either of these vintages would normally run you about HK$300.

So if you’re looking to grab a quick after-work drink or twelve this week, do yourself, your liver and your wallet a favor.  Head to the Landmark Mandarin Oriental.  Sink your teeth into this whopper of a burger and then wash it down with the ultimate tasty beverage.  We’re sure you’ll be more than raring to go for the next round.  Of drinks, of course. And probably burgers too. We guarantee it’ll be the happiest hour of all.
