Go big or go home

Contrary to what you may have heard, size does matter.

Precious stones, televisions, expense accounts, pretty much all of your favorite things…you know it, we know it, bigger is decisively better.  And that goes double for anything related to eating. That’s why we are beyond thrilled to introduce you to the behemoth new gastronomic mecca hidden away in the most unassuming of locales in Wanchai, Catalunya.

Go big or go home

At close to 8,000 square feet, Catalunya is large and most definitely in charge of the Hong Kong dining scene right now. A gorgeous series of cavernous spaces outfitted with dark woods, warm lights, and beautiful mosaic tiles awaits, spread across a cocktail lounge, open front street café, two main dining rooms, and a discreet private room. But it’s not just the sprawling space that’s got this town talking.  Mega-watt culinary stars, outsize Mediterranean flavors, and XXL heaps of sultry Spanish soul are all on offer at the city’s sizzlingly hot new place to see and be seen.

Go big or go home

With seasoned alums from some of the world’s most loved and celebrated restaurants at the helm, you can be sure that your taste buds will be happy.  Group Executive Chef Alain Devahive Tolosa comes to Catalunya straight after a decade of innovative work at famed 3-Michelin starred elBulli in Barcelona, and brings his unique mix of creativity, technical skills, and passion to Hong Kong’s hungriest and most discerning palettes.

Go big or go home

You could almost just close your eyes and order at random, and still be guaranteed an out-of-this world, jumbotron-worthy flavor experience. Or you could really go big and just order the whole menu. We won’t judge. But either way, you must must must get things started with the Truffle Bikini, a crazy good trio of Iberian ham, mozzarella, and of course truffle shavings, tucked deliciously into a perfectly golden-fried sandwich. And don’t pass up the Tortilla with a capital T – not just any tortilla, but a fantasmagoric take on the traditional tapas staple, using onion confit and potato foam to super-size the wow factor.  But without question the heavyweight champ of the meal will be the Cochinillo Segovian Style, a crispy suckling pig that’s so tender and melt-in-your mouth delicious that you can cut it with a plate.

What you’ll bring: a big appetite.  What Catalunya will bring: big portions, big personalities, big flavours. You win.
