Andy Murray winning Wimbledon, One Direction topping the charts, the birth of Prince George, the Duchess of Cambridge getting back into her skinny jeans just 5 weeks later…it’s been a pretty exciting summer to be British.
Nowhere more so than here in HK, where quintessentially British Alfred Dunhill has quietly opened The Reserve – Whisky & Wine Bar. An annex of award-winning restaurant Alfie’s, famed for its classic hearty British Fare, The Reserve is a luxuriously discreet bar and lounge serving up British produce, fine wines, spectacular single malt whiskies and artfully designed cocktails.
Alfie’s much-adored Chef Neil Tomes combed the UK all summer long in search of the best produce available, especially for The Reserve’s tapas-style menu. From famed H. Forman & Son Salmon and jet fresh Oysters to newly discovered British Mozzarella from England’s Laverstoke Park Farm to melt in your mouth Charcuterie featuring artisanal Chorizo, Wild Boar Sausage, Ham, and Duck Pate, each bite takes you back to an English garden party or a cosy cabin in the countryside. Selling out every day since The Reserve’s soft opening are Mr. Tomes’ meat and seafood pies, cooked to perfection inside a fluffy, buttery pastry crust. Try one bite and there will soon be just a few flakey crumbs left behind…
Ready to hit the bar? Start light with cocktails made with fresh fruit and Pimm’s or take things up a notch with a selection of beverages hand-picked by expert sommeliers and top purveyors of whisky, brandy, wine and champagne.
Cheers to being beautifully British!
