When it comes to the better things in life, you’re a big believer in “go hard, or go home”.

If you’re going to shop on net-a-porter, you may as well spread the shipping cost over as many beautiful things as your credit card can stand – it’s just basic fashion economics, right?

If you’re going to go out with the girls on a school night, why stop at couple of glasses of wine and a light head the next day? You may as well go the whole hog, bring on the Margaritas and get a fabulous Instagram-worthy snap of your dance floor take-over.

And if you’re going to eat a burger, well hell, why not have one that is juicy, beefy, smoky and downright delicious paired with a bourbon-spiked milkshake and a skillet-baked choc-chip cookie on the side?

So, when the burger urge next strikes, and you’re in an all out frame of mind, mosey on down to Admiralty and the very best place for a full on burger blow out – Beef & Liberty.

The backdrop for your yum in a bun feast? Step-up the chicest burger joint in town – think high-ceilinged industrial cool, cosy moss-green leather booths, floor to ceiling windows and a huge and funky custom made Cyrcle wall mural. As you step out of the lift on the second floor, you’re greeted by a good looking, well-stocked bar, spot-lit by exposed lightbulbs.  It would be considered rude not to  say hi to the barmen and order in one of their mind-blowingly good cocktails – a Rosemary Pisco Sour tends to get proceedings started on the right note.

Cocktail sunk? Time to breeze past the army of patty magicians cooking up a storm in the big glass cube of a kitchen and get down to the serious business of eating.  Appetizers come in the form of deep fried pickles and chicken wings, but let’s not beat around the bun here, it’s the beef you’re interested in.

Beef & Liberty serves only hormone-free, grass-fed meat from Tasmania’s Cape Grim, which, contrary to the image the name may conjure, has the cleanest air in the world. Big tick! But how does it taste? We’re going to go out on a limb here and say better than any burger we’ve eaten anywhere else in the city. Juicy, flavoursome, perfectly cooked patties in a freshly baked, super soft sour dough bun (or, if you’re gluten-free order up the burger in a bowl and swap the bun for greenery). Keep it classic, or pimp your patty with cheese, black pepper, bacon or green chilli, and if beef’s not your bag, there’s also lamb, chicken or falafel. In short, these are banging burgers!

But the awesomeness doesn’t stop there. With a whole section of the menu devoted to spiked shakes, you may as well make it a total alcoholic, calorie-fest by washing all that beefy goodness down with a fabulously boozy milkshake. Our top pick is the Grandma’s Tipple – bourbon, caramel syrup and vanilla ice-cream – no wonder Granny loves it.

And then it’s time to roll out the big guns. Yup – it’s warm, skillet-baked, choc chip cookie and cream time… Save your white flags, we don’t care how full you are, this soft, gooey-centred, chocolately bad boy is a must. And, when the man with the jug of decadent cream comes over and tells you to let him know when to stop, you may finally be rendered speechless all together.
