Beauty and the Feast

Picture this. You’re running through the city trying to juggle a seemingly endless errand list and a million shopping bags in sweltering heat, all on a pair of super cute but super teetery skyscraper heels. As you try to fight your way through the sweaty gridlock of Central foot and taxi traffic, you find yourself wishing longingly for some sort of peaceful oasis to sit down in a place as pretty as you are, to rest your weary heart and soles. Sound familiar?

Well boy oh boy have your prayers been answered. Perched just above Shanghai Tang and just below heaven sits Duddell’s, the fabulous and we mean fabulous new offering from the folks that brought you Press Room, Classified, and Jia.

Think of this as a temple to all of the finest, most beautiful things in life. You’ll fit right in.

The two-story palace of gorgeous boasts a salon, library, dining room, and a 2,000 square foot outdoor garden terrace to boot. That unbelievably zen feeling you’ll get as soon as you walk into this ultra chic space comes courtesy of the excellent design-work by the famed Ilse Crawford of London. But the real treat for your eyes will be the year-round art program curated by fixtures of the Hong Kong and global art scene, with a continuous series of knockout exhibitions, discussions, performances, film screenings, to whet and satisfy your culture appetite.

Now let’s get down to the business of your actual appetite. You will be nothing short of dazzled by the art you will find on your plate at the hands of Executive Chef Siu Hin Chi of Michelin starred T’ang Court fame. He has taken traditional Cantonese cuisine and elevated it to an even higher level of delicacy, with mouthwatering signature dishes presented in an exquisitely contemporary way, perfectly reflecting the spirit and aesthetic of this gallery of an eatery. We highly recommend the Crispy Salted Chicken and the Crispy Noodle Roll with Fresh Prawns, Goose Liver and Crab Coral.

Don’t be surprised if your afternoon break from the busyness of it all turns into a decadent evening of truly fine rare wines (hand-picked by the founder of Altaya), vintage cocktails like the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Reviver (featuring cooked mao tai and green tea mist), and yet more delectable nibbles (hint: try the “Dim Sum for One” in the salon). Take it from us, it’s near impossible to tear yourself away from the beautiful world that Duddell’s creates, even in the wee small hours of the morning.

Go on, treat yourself to a feast for the eyes, the mind and the taste buds. Be Our Guest!
