A Fish Called RoninGet out your GPS and type in “On Wo Lane”… These three little words and your latest version of Google maps will be integral to finding RŌNIN, the brand new (and totally unmarked) dining and drinking spot by the owners of HK’s much adored Yardbird, Matt Abergel and Lindsay Jang.

Make your way through the shadows past a giant black door and you will be rewarded with a warm inviting bar with luxe wood touches, a backlit cocktail area stocked with whiskey, sake and shochu as far as the eye can see, rocking reggae music and stellar service. Take in the scene at this 12-seater den of urban cool and you may feel you’re anywhere from NYC’s East Village to the heart of Ginza. But one bite of the food and you’re on a journey to totally new and uncharted waters…

RŌNIN’s cuisine is centered around fish, with a daily changing menu featuring only the freshest cuts and catches from Japan and around Asia. Start your meal with heavenly Ebisu Rock Oysters with Ponzu Ice and an order of sublime Shima Aji Sashimi. Next, heat things up with some finger licking good Whitebait Shiso Tempura before digging in to the incredible Tokyo Turnips with Chorizo, Clams and Miso. Ready to up the ante? Tuck into Kagoshima Beef with Maitake and Egg Yolk, Deep Sea Snapper with Indian Lettuce and Kimchi, or a delectable twist on Udon Noodles with Mentaiko and Shiso.

Kick your night into high gear with retro inspired cocktails like the “Burro,” made with Centenario Blanco Tequila, Wilkinson Ginger Ale, Okinawa Black Sugar, Ginger and Lime, shaken with some serious TLC and served in a copper mug with a giant hand cut ice cube, or the “Cocoa Nib Old Fashioned,” made with Yardbird’s own Cocoa Nib Shochu, Pampero Añejo, Chocolate Bitters and Gomme. Or choose from a well-edited selection of Japanese Whiskey, Shochu, and Sake, and let the night take you where it may…

After a few cocktail-filled hours at RŌNIN, you could end up needing your GPS again…just to find your way back home!
