December 7, 2006 It's been a long nine months, and we're not quite sure how we survived, but the Mandarin is back and it's better than ever. While a lot has changed, much has remained the same. Allow us to reintroduce you to your old friend who has merely gone off for a bit of R&R, gotten a little work done, and made a few new acquaintances, but dahhhling is very happy to be home. À Table! The Mandarin Grill + Bar has been completely redesigned and it is spectacular! The restaurant's formerly hidden windows have been uncovered to reveal unparalleled views of Statue Square and the décor is deliciously elegant, complete with its signature white lilies. The Grill is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner but no matter what time you eat, make sure you stick around for the delicious warm chocolate petit fours. Need something a little more exclusive? Book a table in the Krug Room for the ultimate discreet, private dining experience. The design recalls the Krug cellars in France and special tasting menus have been devised to complement the various champagnes. Its location within the hotel is undisclosed, but we've got the private booking number (2825 4014). For a flawless evening from start to finish, arrange for a pick-up by the Room's private limo. Ready for some tea and cakes? The Clipper Lounge is still serving its signature rose petal jam and scones as well as a beyond decadent Chocolate Indulgence tasting menu. Get there early to score a seat for High Tea (starts at 3pm). If tea and sandwiches aren't going to cut it,
check out the stunning new Café Causette
on the Mezzanine floor, which serves up hearty, delectable cuisine at any hour of the day. Afterward, pop into the adjacent Mandarin Cake Shop for sinfully delicious sweet treats. The cakes are gorgeous and absolute works of art, so you'll even get a little bit of culture with your sugar high. Relaxing Rendezvous After all this pampering and fabulous decadence how could you possibly leave? Well, you don't have to! The hotel is now home to 68 individually designed suites, all featuring pure linen bed sheets, goose-down pillows, Bang & Olufsen LCD TVs and Acqua di Parma or Hermés bath products. For an extra special night we recommend one of the new Deluxe Oriental Suites. With their exclusive corner location, you will delight in both stunning harbour and spectacular city views. Push the privacy button, order room service, and unwind in the oversized floor-standing bathtub. Awake relaxed, refreshed, and renewed . . . just like the Mandarin! It's fan-tastic!
